TAAG Presents AiGOR, Its RNA Detection Technology, at Expo Científica CTR 2026

At Expo Guadalajara, TAAG shared a forum with SENASICA to present AiGOR, its RNA-based molecular detection platform, to an audience of science, health and food industry professionals. The presentation focused on a known limitation of conventional PCR: because it amplifies DNA, the method cannot distinguish between living cells and cells that are already dead, which can produce false positives when a pathogen has been inactivated by cooking or pasteurization but its residual genetic material persists in the sample. AiGOR solves that problem by targeting exclusively the RNA of active pathogens, a molecule that degrades quickly once the cell loses viability, so its presence is a far more faithful indicator of real, current contamination in the product.

That specificity translates into concrete numbers: TAAG reports a sensitivity up to 10,000 times higher than that of traditional real-time PCR, and response times of just 3 hours, compared with conventional methods that depend on a bacterial enrichment step of 24 hours or more before the sample can be analyzed. That enrichment exists because classic PCR needs a sufficient microbial load to amplify a detectable signal; by working on RNA with greater sensitivity, AiGOR can skip that bottleneck and deliver an actionable result within the same production shift, rather than the next day.

Elevia, TAAG's suite of diagnostic kits, operates on that technological base, ranging from individual detection of Salmonella spp., with AOAC-PTM certification, an internationally recognized standard for validating microbiological diagnostic methods, to combined panels capable of identifying Salmonella spp., Listeria spp. and L. monocytogenes in a single reaction. For the second quarter of 2026 the company plans to launch a triple kit, Elevia 3.5, which will further expand that multiplexing capability. According to TAAG, bringing environmental monitoring in-house with Elevia, instead of relying on external laboratories with turnaround times of 48 to 72 hours, can save a processing plant up to US$228,000 per year by reducing both shipping and outsourcing costs and the time a batch remains on hold awaiting results.

The event, free to attend and held from August 10 to 12, brought together more than 35 exhibiting brands in strategic sectors such as science, health and the food industry, establishing itself as a relevant showcase for emerging diagnostic technologies in the region. For TAAG, taking part in the 8th edition of Expo Científica CTR reaffirms its role as a leader in molecular diagnostics applied to food safety in Mexico, and reinforces the message that speed and analytical specificity, more than raw sensitivity alone, are the variables that now define a plant's real ability to prevent an outbreak before the product reaches the consumer.
