Product RecallOn September 4, 2026, RappelConso published the recall of raw frozen ground beef steaks from multiple sector companies due to Salmonella presence. The recall covered multiple packaging formats — packages of 2x150 grams, 50x150 grams, 8x120 grams and 50x100 grams — sold at a dairy company and in a store. Health authorities noted that Salmonella infections cause sudden-onset gastrointestinal disorders — diarrhea, vomiting — usually accompanied by fever and headaches, between 6 and 72 hours after consumption of the contaminated product.
That the recall included four different packaging formats from two related brands indicates that the problem originated in the grinding or mixing stage of the meat, prior to subdivision into different package sizes: in ground meat production, a contaminated batch of raw material can be distributed across multiple final packaging formats, multiplying the number of commercial references affected by a single contamination event in the grinder or mixer.
For TAAG, raw ground beef steak is one of the highest relative risk matrices for Salmonella and STEC because its usual consumption — undercooked or even raw in preparations like tartare — does not offer the thermal safety margin of a whole piece of meat cooked well: ground meat homogenizes any surface contamination throughout the entire product volume, which is why monitoring of the grinder and mixer is as important as testing the finished product.
