Product RecallLuxembourg Recalls a Small Dry Saucisson with Parmesan Cheese Over Salmonella
Luxembourg's Veterinary and Food Administration (ALVA) published on October 10, 2026, in its food alerts section, the recall of a small dry saucisson with Parmesan cheese, in a 75-gram format. The reason is the presence of Salmonella. The alert indicates that the sale was confirmed in Luxembourg by a retail chain and accompanies it with a poster for points of sale. The notice is limited to a specific batch and does not report cases of illness.
Dry saucisson is a cured sausage eaten without cooking, in slices or portions, often as an appetizer or on charcuterie boards. As there is no heat step before consumption, a Salmonella contamination in the meat or in the curing process reaches the consumer intact. Salmonellosis usually appears between a few hours and three days after eating the food, with diarrhea, fever and abdominal pain, and can be more severe in young children, pregnant women, older people and people with weakened defenses.
Anyone who has bought the affected product should not consume it and can return it to the point of sale, following the usual procedure for these recalls. Those who have eaten it and have symptoms should consult a doctor and mention the consumption. The notice does not detail the origin of the contamination or whether the finding comes from the manufacturer's own check or an official control. As this is a long-shelf-life product, units may be stored in pantries, hence the importance of checking the packaging against the information in the notice.
For manufacturers of cured sausages, the episode reinforces the need to control Salmonella in the meat raw material and in added ingredients, such as cheeses or spices, and to verify the surfaces of the production room. TAAG's Specio 1.1 Salmonella spp. kit detects this pathogen by real-time PCR with melting curve in foods, beverages and surfaces, with the meat industry among its fields. There is no specific validation in cured sausages, so its use would be indirect support for monitoring raw materials and surfaces.

Specio 1.1 detects Salmonella spp. in foods, beverages and surfaces, with the meat industry among its fields. The association is indirect because the kit's list of matrices is generic and does not mention cured sausages, and the alert does not describe an analysis performed with the kit.
