Broad-Spectrum Spoilage Defense.
The Challenge
Our partner needed a faster and more comprehensive way to control spoilage risk in finished beverages. Traditional plating methods required 5 to 7 days and provided limited visibility while products waited for release. This delay increased inventory pressure, slowed distribution, and left the brand exposed to quality failures such as package swelling, turbidity, off-flavors, and premature shelf-life loss.
The TAAG Solution
TAAG implemented a high-capacity multiplex PCR solution to detect the most relevant beverage spoilage microorganisms in a single molecular workflow, including acidophilic bacteria, yeasts, molds, and preservative-resistant yeasts. This allowed the partner to identify spoilage risks before they compromised product quality, reducing dependency on slow culture-based methods and enabling faster release decisions.
52 Hrs
Key Results:
- Reduced spoilage screening time from 5–7 days to around 50 hours.
- Broad detection of critical beverage spoilers, including acidophilic bacteria, yeasts, molds, and preservative-resistant yeasts.
- Earlier identification of microorganisms associated with package swelling, turbidity, off-flavors, and shelf-life failures.
- Consolidated multiple culture-based tests into a simplified molecular workflow.
- Stronger quality control decisions before product distribution.
